Twitter is an excellent social medium platform that can be used to share the major categories of news. Although it may be used to share irrelevant content majority of the time, there are still opportunities to share articles and videos that have substance. In order to observe this, I looked at a friend's account that tweets fairly regularly.

After looking at his account, I realized he discusses the current presidential election quite frequently without linking any form of supporting media. His tweets mainly consist of his own opinions on candidates like Trump and Sanders. He will occasionally post a link to a Vine or some other form of a condensed video to support his opinion, but no links to any major news websites. Overall, he very infrequently links to news stories, but does discuss news stories through his own opinions.

Although he does  not share links to news stories concerning politics or business, he does tend to share links to stories regarding entertainment, lifestyle, and health. For example, he will post links to articles about local music and arts festivals as well as post links concerning new discoveries in space. These stories do seem less relevant in the grand scheme of things, but at the same time still do provide some type of knowledge.

Even though these findings are based off of one person's Twitter account, I feel it is a pretty accurate representation of the news that concerns my demographic, We like to be informed on politics and local news, but do not necessarily want to take the time to read an entire news article. When it comes to lifestyle and entertainment though, we are more likely to read and actually share links to media about these topics.  I do feel national and international news should be more important to people my age, but staying updated on health and science/technology also offers importance.
